Businesses are tasked with finding the best candidates to fill their open positions every day. However, many companies don't have the time or resources to search for the right person comprehensively.

The hiring process can be long and arduous, and finding the right candidate is often tricky. You might spend weeks searching through applications only to find that they are not a good fit for the job.

At Gmaids we spent a lot of rough days trying to weed out a bunch of applicants. We're always hiring, so we decided to take the matter into our own hands and designed a system to help us during this long and tedious process.

It all started when we discovered the term IEP - Ideal Employee Profile. This helped us to have a basis to start thinking about how to improve the process of analyzing each applicant within Pipehire.

By developing an employee profile, you can ensure that you are targeting the right applicants when you are recruiting.
You can think of it as a candidate avatar/persona.

An ideal employee profile should include both hard skills and soft skills.
Hard skills are specific abilities or knowledge required to do a job. For example, if you are looking for a cleaning tech, hard skills might include:

  • Carpet Cleaning
  • Sweeping
  • Deep cleaning
  • Mopping
  • Window cleaning
  • Vacuuming
  • Dusting
  • Bathroom and bedroom cleaning
  • Trash disposal
  • Laundry

Soft skills, on the other hand, are more general interpersonal skills. They might include qualities like teamwork, communication, adaptability, etc.

Once you have determined the skills and qualifications your candidate avatar/persona should have, you can start using this information to create targeted questions for each job offer.

Targeted questions will serve as a filter for applicants.
Remember to include this specific information in the job description also.

What is a job description?

A job description is a document that outlines the essential duties, responsibilities, qualifications, and skills required for a role.

It also provides information about the company culture and the overall expectations of the position.

The job description is one of the key pieces of information you'll share with new employees, and it's a great way to communicate the clear expectations you've created.

By developing a well-written and accurate job description, you can help ensure that your new hires clearly understand their role within your company.

In addition, a job description can be a valuable tool for tracking performance and evaluating candidates for promotion or additional responsibilities.

When creating a job description, include an overview of the company and the team with which the role will work.

Be sure to outline the key duties and responsibilities of the position clearly. Finally, list any qualifications or skills that are required for the role.

You can help set your new employees up for success by developing a well-crafted job description.

Posting your job listing on your website is the best place to start.
This will ensure that people who are interested in your company will be able to find the listing quickly.

In addition, it is essential to make sure that you post your job offer in the right places.

There are many job boards and websites, and it can be challenging to sift through them.

However, finding the right place to post your listing will save you a lot of time and money in the long run.

By being strategic about where you post your jobs, you can ensure that you reach the right audience and attract the best candidates.

The Future and the solution.

Armed with our experience and some ideas, we designed and developed a tool to optimize the process.

Pipehire provides pre-loaded job offer questions based on different home services industries that will help streamline this process.

Each form is formulated as a candidate avatar/persona, meaning each applicant will get a score depending on the answers to the questions.

We noticed that it was not enough just to have the right questions; we needed a process to filter out and narrow the search even more.

PH provides the ability to refine applicants further within the funnel.

By applying a series of filters, users can modify the applicants so that only those who meet all required characteristics are visible.

This makes identifying the most qualified candidates easier and ensures that no exceptional candidates are missed.

Additionally, this feature can save time in recruiting by eliminating the need to review each applicant manually.

Conclusion.

In conclusion, having a clear IEP is essential for recruitment and hiring.

An IEP will help you identify the best candidates for the job, ensure that your recruitment and hiring process is fast and effective, and support your new employees in their job search and new role.

If you are not already using an IEP in your recruitment and hiring process, now is the time to start!
